Join the UK Dairy Carbon Network research project

A herd of black and white dairy cattle grazing on lush green grass with blue skies behind them.

The UK Dairy Carbon Network is looking for farms interested in participating in a dairy research project that aims to demonstrate the implementation of multiple carbon saving measures on farm in synchrony.

The UK Dairy Carbon Network, led by AHDB and AgriSearch and funded by Defra, brings together UK dairy farms to explore and implement practical solutions aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

It is currently seeking 56 dairy farms from four farm networks to join the project over a period of three years. During this time, selected farms will select, trial and assess measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The regions include:

  • Northern Ireland (applications now closed)
  • Cumbria and south-west Scotland (application window extended until 14 April)
  • North-west England (application window extended until 14 April)
  • South and south-west England/Wales (application window extended until 14 April)

Why take part?

Research gathered will help dairy farmers to make informed, sustainable changes and contribute to a more sustainable future for the UK dairy sector.

Each farm will receive a tailored action plan, 1:1 support and a farm liaison officer. Financial support is available for active participation and involved farmers will have access to networking events and knowledge-exchange meetings.
