National Highways are proposing to improve the A428 between Black Cat in Bedfordshire and Caxton Gibbet in Cambridgeshire, by constructing a new 10-mile dual carriageway with better junctions.
Development consent order
Following a number of consultations, National Highways submitted an application to the planning inspectorate for a development consent order, which has been accepted for examination. If granted, National Highways will have compulsory powers to construct the scheme.
The examination period runs until February 2022. Following the close of the examination, the Planning Inspectorate will make recommendations to the Secretary of State regarding whether the development consent order should be approved.
