Jordan Parnell brings not only a wealth of banking and insurance experience to his new role, but also a deep-rooted love of farming and agriculture.
Jordan grew up on his parent’s dairy farm in Burnley and attended school in Blackburn and Clitheroe.
After school, Jordan embarked on a career in banking. As time went on, Jordan moved through the ranks in the banking and building society world, going from Customer Service Administrator to Branch Manager.
He went on to become Quality Supervisor for Yorkshire, Cumbria, Lancashire and Cheshire. He was then promoted to Business Development Manager specialising in home insurance.
In August 2017, Jordan joined the NFU Mutual’s Risk Management Services as a Sales Consultant. Two years later he moved to the role of Locum Agency Manager covering various offices across the North West, which gave Jordan a breadth of experience in different farming types and identifying commercial risks.
Helping members to secure their future
Following the retirement of Macclesfield Group Secretary Becky Gayne, he decided to apply for the position and was successful. He started his new role in April.
Jordan said: “I’m looking forward to getting to know our customers and helping them look after their businesses, their assets and securing their future.
“I’m also looking forward to getting to know the next generation of farmers and new commercial customers and helping them too.
“I’m 36 and I fully intend on doing this job until I retire now, so it would be nice to grow up with the customers, support them through their changes in their businesses, their lives, and see how their businesses develop and grow with them.”
Part of the community
Jordan is also keen to grow and develop the Macclesfield agency team, a team that he says is already well-embedded within its community.
Jordan concluded: “What I really love about the Macclesfield agency is that lots of customers know the staff here very well because they’re all involved in the community. Everyone knows us and I think that builds that trust and helps develop those relationships even further.
“That was the reason why I thought yes, Macclesfield is the right agency for me; because of that local community that we have,” he added.
