County Update

Those of you who attended our ‘Day of Unity’ in high town on 25 January will remember we ran a petition asking the Council to commit to a debate on 7 March 2025, ahead of the Spring announcement, on a motion to support Herefordshire’s farmers in regard to the recent tax change. Over 400 signed the petition and the Council Leader has confirmed that a motion has been put forwards. This will be debated at the Council meeting next Friday 7 March, 10am, at Plough Lane, HR4 0LE. If you are able to come along, please do so – farmers being present in the room might help during the debate and vote.

Join us Saturday 8 March for a day at Hereford Racecourse. Tickets are £10 for NFU members and you can buy up to 4 per person. Link to tickets can be found . The discount codeÌý±·¹ó±«0803 should be entered at the checkout stage in the promotional code box.

On Friday 21 March members are welcome to attend a charity dinner raising money for We are Farming Minds and St. Michael’s Hospice. The evening includes a welcome drink, two course dinner, charity auction and talk from guest speaker Nigel Owens (Welsh former rugby referee and farmer). Tickets are £60 per person and tables of up to 10 are available. Email [email protected] for more information.

The Big Farm Tea Break

Date

24 - 30 March 2025

Spring is the time of year on a farm when it seems everywhere you look there is a job waiting. Lambing, calving and tractor work all add to the pressure, it’s easy to feel there is no time to breathe.

Due to this pressure, we miss out on visits to the local shops, markets, Young Farmers or the pub. Those communities we are part of are still there and keen to always be there for you.

It’s amazing how stopping for a conversation puts everything into perspective for you and people around you.

So, during the Big Farm Tea Break, let’s all come together as a community.

Lynda and Andy wish they could have had the chance to say the right words at the right time.  They can’t but you can.

Please share your photos and #Lens Light

No one in the rural community should feel isolated or alone.
