2. What personal information do we hold about you?

2.1 We collect personal information about a range of individuals, including our members, prospective members, former members, subscribers to any of our publications, individuals who are interested in our messages and want to support us and other individuals who work in the same industry as us and who attend our events and/or we have contact with in the course of promoting and furthering our aims. The personal information we hold about you and the way in which we use it will differ depending on our relationship with you. We have provided further details below.

2.2 We also have CCTV cameras in operation at our offices and premises and these cameras may capture footage and images of you when you visit our offices and premises. CCTV means 铿亁ed and domed cameras designed to capture and record images of individuals and property. These cameras are located both inside and outside of offices. When you visit our offices we may capture images of you and personal data such as your vehicle registration number. We believe that the use of CCTV cameras is necessary for legitimate business purposes. We capture these images in order to ensure the Health and safety of our staff, members and visitors to our offices and premises. We also capture these images to prevent crime and protect our offices, premises and assets from damage, disruption, vandalism and other forms of crime.

Members, former members and prospective members and other supporters

2.3 This section of the Privacy Notice applies if you are a member, former member, subscriber to any of our publications, someone who may be interested in membership of NFU or otherwise supports our aims and objectives.

2.4 We collect and use personal information about you as part of our activities. The personal information we collect includes:

2.4.1 Information that you provide to us

The information that you provide to us may include your full name, postal address, email address, telephone number, mobile number, financial information, payment information, photograph, registration numbers, insurance information and your password to access your NFU account or mobile application. You may also provide information to us in respect of your farming business. This information may be provided:

      1. in the course of communications between you and us (including face to face, by phone, email or otherwise);
      2. when you 铿乴l in forms on our websites;
      3. when you register to attend our events;
      4. when you submit a membership joining or renewal form to us;
      5. via our social media pages, other social media content, tools and applications;
      6. when you visit our events or shows or other venues or places where we are present or actively working;
      7. when you call our helplines (e.g. CallFirst) and when you make an application to access our professional services (e.g. Legal Assistance Scheme (LAS));
      8. when you enter competitions that we run from time to time; and
      9. when you speak to our researchers, colleagues or people authorised on behalf of us to carry out research.
      10. when you apply for a scholarship, grant or an award from the NFU or an associated charity.

2.4.2 Information we collect from you

      1. technical information (to the extent that it constitutes personal information) including the IP address you use to connect your device to the Internet and the browser type, version you use on your device and duration of your visit to the websites);
      2. information about your use of the websites or our mobile application (to the extent that it constitutes personal information) including the full URL (Uniform Resource Locators) clickstream to, through and from our site (including date and time); products and/or services you viewed or searched for, page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs), login details, and methods used to browse away from the page and any phone number used to call our customer service number;
      3. information contained in and records of communications between you and us, including emails, calls, SMS messages and letters;
      4. information regarding your marketing preferences;
      5. records of meetings and events you attend; and
      6. recordings of telephone conversations when you call our helplines (e.g. Call First).

2.4.3 Information we receive from other sources

      1. details from one of our commercial partners (see above for the links to 铿乶d out who our commercial partners are) about any products or services you receive from them;
      2. information from your professional adviser in relation to a claim under the LAS;
      3. information that we receive from governmental departments (e.g. DEFRA) or other industry bodies in respect of research or work that we are commissioned by them to carry out from time to time; and
      4. contact details or other relevant information we receive from the National Farmers Union Mutual Insurance Society Limited (NFU Mutual) to enable us to send you direct marketing.

2.5 In the course of running our organisation we gather personal information about a number of individuals who are not members or former members, for example, stakeholders, local authority contacts and journalists. This section applies to those business contacts.

2.6 We collect and use personal information about you as part of our business activities.

2.6.1 Information that you provide to us

The information that you provide to us may include your name, postal address, email address, telephone number, mobile number, payment information, and registration numbers. This information may be provided:

      1. in the course of communications between you and us (including by phone, post, email or otherwise);
      2. when you register to attend our events; and
      3. via our social media pages, other social media content, tools and applications.

2.6.2 Information we collect from you

      1. information contained in and records of communications between you and us, including emails, calls, SMS messages and letters
      2. records of meetings and events you attend; and
      3. information regarding your expertise in an area of the industry in which we operate.

2.6.3 Information we receive from other sources

      1. information that we receive from governmental departments (e.g. DEFRA) or similar industry bodies in respect of research or work that we may be commissioned by them to carry out;
      2. information from publicly available sources; and
      3. details from companies we instruct to carry out credit checks on you or the organisation you work for in connection with the sale by us of advertising opportunities.
