Mr Bradshaw recounted two significant pieces of work that had saved the industry millions in the past year.
Speaking in East Sussex, Mr Bradshaw reminded farmers how, in the midst of a crisis in fertiliser prices and availability, the NFU had managed to persuade decision-makers that the use of urea, a crucial source of nitrogen, should be retained. "By retaining urea, the NFU has saved the industry 拢25 million per year and all users of artificial fertiliser have benefited," Mr Bradshaw told members. He was addressing the annual general meeting of East Sussex NFU, held near Lewes on Friday 25 November. 皇家华人had also saved the farming industry between 拢3.5million and 拢4million per annum, by persuading government to ditch plans to include silage wrap within the plastic packaging tax, he said. The tax was to take effect in April 2022.
