15 January 2021

The ICO has confirmed it is currently in the process of sending out registration letters, but has made the NFU aware of a scam letter from an unrelated company.

Following a number of enquiries from members who have been confused by recent letters from the ICO regarding registration, the NFU would like to provide clarity.

»Ê¼Ò»ªÈËcontacted the ICO this week, which has confirmed that:

  • Courtesy letters are currently going out to agricultural businesses registered at Companies House, reminding them there may be a requirement to register.
  • Members can phone the ICO Helpline 0303 123 1113 ext. 1700 (if they wish) and ICO will confirm if they sent the letter and explain the registration process.
  • There is a scam letter in circulation at the moment from another company (no further details) charging £195. Therefore if you are unsure we recommend you contact the ICO Helpline to confirm.
