The results found that around 85% of respondents are concerned about health and safety on farm, with 43% saying they have an increased perception of risk on farm.
One quarter of those who responded said they knew someone who had an accident on farm over the last year and one further quarter said they felt their mental health had deteriorated.
Changing the culture of safety
Responding to the results, NFU Deputy President David Exwood said: “Thank you to everyone who took the time to take part in our farm safety poll. The fact that a quarter of poll respondents know someone who’s had a farm accident over the last year is not a good statistic and shows the work we all have to do in changing the culture of safety on our farms.
“Let’s see if we can get the number of incidents reduced over the next year, so fewer farmers and their families suffer such tragedies.”
