6 key reminders to prepare for delinked payments

NFU senior support schemes adviser Richard Wordsworth outlines the key considerations to help you prepare for delinked payments.

Delinked payments will be replacing the BPS from 2024 onwards, and will be paid in two instalments until 2028.

1. Timing

The RPA intends to make two payments every year from 2024-2027.

In 2024, the first payment will be made from 1 August; the second payment was brought forward, and is expected to be in bank accounts from 30 September, instead of from 1 December.

As a result, there will not be a December payment in 2024 for delinked payments.

2. Payment statements

Payment statements will be made after each payment has been received, however, the first instalment statements may arrive slightly later for payments from 1 August, arriving later in August or even September.

Please only contact the RPA after receiving a payment statement if you need to query anything.

Update late October 2024: Due to circumstances outside of the RPA’s control, there has been a delay to the circulation of information statements for delinked payments made in 2024.

3. Access to statements

The statements when made available online will only be accessible online for 18 months to download for your records once the email has been received.

Those who cannot receive the statement by email, will be sent a copy in the post.

If you fail to download a statement within this 18-month period, you can contact the RPA and request a new statement.

4. Who receives the information?

Statements will be sent to the email address linked to the business. Where no email is associated, however, the statement will then be posted to the registered address. This will also apply for any failed email attempts to send a statement as well.

5. Payment paperwork

Remittance advice will also be posted to the registered business address. This will occur with each instalment paid under the delinked payment process and will show the scheme year and the amount being paid.

6. Fraud reminder

These are new payments and the second instalment will be paid at a different time to what was originally planned for 2024. Please familiarise yourself with measures to prevent fraud: .
