Since April 2023, 21,298 cattle have been slaughtered because of this terrible disease. In some cases, farmers have lost whole herds and their livelihoods.
The current TB Eradication Strategy is working. We have seen the herd incidence rate of TB reduced by 56% in areas that have had four or more years of wildlife control, evidenced in recent data from the .
Our ambition remains to achieve a TB-free England by 2038, while maintaining and enhancing a thriving livestock and dairy sector. We will continue to work with government and other partners to achieve this important goal.
