Purpose of the role & how you will contribute: 

 

This is a senior role with responsibility for leading and managing the day-to-day operations of the finance department and development of a small team, you will also oversee finance improvements such as system upgrades, enhancing controls, processes and policies.  You will be responsible for various weekly, monthly and annually reporting, including variance analysis and cash flow forecasting.  You will develop strong relationships working across departments to provide a fit for purpose collaborative finance partnership. 

 

What you’ll bring:

 

You will be a qualified accountant with experience in managing and developing a team of up to 10 people, you will have strong technical accounting experience of group consolidations, financial reporting standards and best practice financial management.  You will be proficient in prioritising completion of a number of competing demands to tight deadlines and will have expertise in implementing cost and process improvements across finance and operations.

»Ê¼Ò»ªÈËFinance department is the custodian of the NFU’s finances, responsible for accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintenance of appropriate financial records and reporting of monthly and annual accounts for statutory audit purposes, in a way that is compliant with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements, e.g. TULRCA 1992, Companies House, UK GAAP financial reporting, HMRC etc. 

 

The department manages a range of routine operations including, but not limited to, processing the weekly BACS payment run, reporting weekly cash flow and bank balances, processing payroll, staff and member expenses, raising of sales invoices and managing our advertising income. 

 

The department is responsible for ensuring that the NFU’s finance policies and procedures are kept up to date with changes in legislation and remain fit for purpose by working collaboratively with other departments to understand the changing needs of the NFU.
