“My time on the scheme provided me with valuable insight and experience…”
I was one of four graduates on the NFU’s 2016 Graduate Scheme, three of whom are still working for the NFU today. My time on the scheme provided me with valuable insight and experience into different sectors and policy areas and enabled me to meet and work with farmers across the country.
Upon leaving the scheme I took up the position of NFU Dairy Adviser, working with the National Dairy Board and supporting dairy farmer members on issues such as contract relations, ammonia emissions reduction and dairy cow welfare. I also sat on the Red Tractor Dairy Technical Advisory Committee.
At the end of 2019 I was offered the position of Senior European Policy Adviser at the British Agriculture Bureau, the NFU’s Brussels‑based office representing NFU, NFUC, NFUS and UFU. In Brussels I work with agri‑stakeholders from across the EU and further afield representing the interests of UK farmers, keeping track of legislative developments in the EU and working with our policy experts to assess the impact of new trade and agricultural policies on our members.
