Excavator desilting_17025
  • A Farmers Guide to Consents which contains information produced in partnership with the Environment Agency on whether a consent is needed for particular works in or near a main or ordinary watercourse;
  • Flood Defence Consent Application Form Advice- providing an outline of the type of information required to complete an application form for a flood defence consent;
  • Examples of the cross-sectional diagrams needed to be produced to support your application for rip-rap and willow spiralling.

A further River Bank Protection Guidance document also outlines the range of bankside works which can be undertaken. The Environment Agency has a strong preference for natural methods of bank protection to be used wherever possible, and hard man-made revetments kept to a minimum.

As a result the different methods are placed in order of preference, however the Environment Agency will also accept schemes if they are replacing like-for-like- i.e. same form of material or defence put in place.

Members are reminded that the deadline for applications for the is Friday 1st April 2016. Applications can be submitted for more than the maximum figure of £20,000, which will then be reviewed.
